Self Love Spot is a boutique beauty salon in Kraków at ul. Barska 61A/LU1, by the Vistula next to Rondo Grunwaldzkie. We are hiring a nail technician, full-time or part-time. Pay is 6,500–12,000 PLN per month and consists of a base rate plus a percentage of the turnover you generate, while typical Kraków listings quote 4,000–8,000 PLN. You choose the form: umowa o pracę (an employment contract), umowa zlecenie (a civil-law mandate contract) or B2B self-employment. The rota is flexible and the salon is open Monday to Saturday, from 8:00 to 22:00. The salon supplies the clients from your first week, so you need no client base of your own. How much does a nail technician earn in Kraków?

Here it is 6,500–12,000 PLN a month. That figure is a base rate plus a percentage of your turnover — the more you work and the higher your level, the higher the income.

All three are genuinely available here, not just on paper. The choice is yours and it can be changed later — here is what each one actually means for you.

Umowa o pracę (employment contract)

For you if you want stability, paid leave and creditworthiness.

ZUS
Full contributions are paid by the salon as the payer to ZUS (the Polish social insurance institution) — you calculate nothing yourself.
NFZ
Health cover under NFZ (the national health fund), paid annual leave, sick pay, maternity protection.
Karta pobytu
The strongest basis for a temporary residence and work permit application, and for a mortgage. We issue every certificate the office asks for.

Umowa zlecenie (civil-law mandate contract)

For you if you want a flexible rota without registering a business — a common choice in the first months after arriving.

ZUS
Contributions are paid by the salon; students under 26 are exempt from them.
NFZ
Health cover yes, paid annual leave no. You are settled per day actually worked.
Karta pobytu
Accepted for a work permit and for the powiadomienie o powierzeniu pracy (notification of entrusting work to a Ukrainian citizen).

B2B / działalność gospodarcza (self-employment)

For you if you already run a działalność, or want to register one, and prefer the highest take-home figure.

ZUS
You settle it yourself. For the first six months you get ulga na start (start relief), then reduced ZUS rates.
NFZ
Sickness insurance is voluntary; you pay the health contribution as part of your business.
Karta pobytu
Can be a residence basis on the grounds of running a business. We will walk you through registering the company in CEIDG (the business register).

The take-home figure differs between these three forms, so always compare them at the same rate. At the interview we will do the maths on all three for your situation.

Paperwork

How do you legalise your stay and work in Kraków?

We know what starting out in a new country is like — we have been through it with several people on the team. Here is the order that usually works.

  1. 01

    PESEL number

    You apply at the Kraków city office (Urząd Miasta Krakowa). Without a PESEL you cannot open a bank account or file a tax return.

  2. 02

    Profil zaufany (trusted profile)

    Set it up alongside the PESEL or through your bank. Without it you cannot submit most applications online.

  3. 03

    Basis for stay and work

    Ukrainian citizens: UKR status plus the powiadomienie o powierzeniu pracy, which we file. Everyone else: a work permit plus a visa or a karta pobytu.

  4. 04

    Karta pobytu (residence card)

    The application goes to the Małopolski Urząd Wojewódzki (Małopolska Voivodeship Office) at ul. Przy Rondzie 6. From us you get the full employer pack: the contract, an employment certificate and a statement of earnings.

  5. 05

    Bank account and NFZ

    You open the account once the PESEL is issued. Registration for health insurance under umowa o pracę and umowa zlecenie is done by us.

  6. 06

    Your first tax return

    The PIT (annual tax return) for your first year is due by the end of April. Under umowa o pracę and umowa zlecenie you will get a PIT-11 from us.

Where do you live after moving to Kraków?

We do not rent out flats and we do not act as a letting agent — we will not promise something we cannot deliver. What we can do is tell you where to look, what to watch out for and what it realistically costs.

  • Close to the salon: Dębniki, Ludwinów, Zabłocie and Podgórze — from any of them Barska is about fifteen minutes away.
  • The standard deposit is one month of rent, paid when the contract is signed.
  • Trams and buses take you to the Rondo Grunwaldzkie stop — it is right at the door.
  • Most listings aimed at people from Ukraine circulate in Kraków Facebook groups and Telegram channels.
  • Have your tenancy agreement read by someone who reads Polish before you sign it. You are welcome to bring it to us.

How much does a nail technician take home?
It depends on the form of engagement. Under umowa o pracę and umowa zlecenie the salon pays the contributions, so the net figure is lower than the gross, but you have health cover and — under umowa o pracę — paid leave. Under B2B you take home the most, but you settle ZUS and tax yourself. At the interview we do the maths on all three.
Is nail technician work worth it financially?
In Kraków, yes, on two conditions: a steady stream of clients, and not paying for products out of your own pocket. Both hold here — the salon fills the schedule, and products, equipment and sterilisation are on us. Then all of your time at the station turns into income.
Is Polish required?
Not to start. The team speaks Polish, Ukrainian, Russian and English, and so do many of the clients. Polish will help over time and we are glad to support you with it, but it is not a condition of being hired.
Can I start with no experience, straight after a course?
Not for this position. We need someone who works independently from day one and has a portfolio of finished sets. If you have just completed a course, write to us anyway — we will get in touch when we open a place for someone at the start of their career.
What experience do you expect?
At least a year working independently in a salon, plus a portfolio we can look through — Instagram is ideal. Quality and consistency count, not the number of years by itself.
Do I need my own products, lamp and e-file?
No. Products, lamps, e-files and sterilisation are provided by the salon. You spend nothing out of pocket, including at the start.
